Learning about Dinosaurs

Its kinda hard to live in a small apartment without all of your regular belongings.  Its tough on the girls too because they get really bored.  This morning it was rainy and we needed more entertainment so I decided we were going to learn about Dinosaurs.  We went to the library to get a bunch of books about dinosaurs, then we came home to read and play games.  We enjoyed jumping from pillow to pillow avoiding the "sticky goo", dancing like a dinosaur, and making dinosaurs and dinosaur eggs out of Wikki Sticks.   Here are Claire's dinosaur eggs.  I thought they turned out great.

Below, Lily is showing me her baby dinosaurs.  They have long necks, but she told me they haven't grown feet yet....poor things.

For lunch Lily wanted to eat dinosaur food.  I told her that a lot of dinosaurs ate leaves and then I made her a spinach salad.  She ate a few leaves, but lost interest after a while.  At least I tried to feed her something healthy.

So despite the weather, we had a pretty good day.  I'm proud of myself.

Memorial Day at Discovery Park

We went hiking in Discovery Park for Memorial Day.  The weather was perfect and we had a great time enjoying the forest and the beach.  Thanks, Jeff, for being an awesome photographer.

Here's Lily and Claire touching the soft moss growing on a log.

I keep telling people it is so green here....IT IS SO GREEN HERE!
We had a picnic on the beach - the washed up logs make great benches - and spent some time looking for shells.

Baby Claire

Today Lily and Claire were playing together.  Lily was the mommy and Claire was the baby.  They are so cute when they play together.

So, I've fallen off the planet

We have been so busy the past couple months with graduation and moving to Seattle that I have not been able to update our blog.  I plan on updating it soon....really.

Mercer Island

We wanted to enjoy Jeff's time before he starts his new job and enjoy the perks of living on Mercer Island so we decided to visit a park near Lake Washington.  We enjoyed the views across the water.

We also went on a little walk along the coast of the lake.  The girls' favorite part was spreading dandelion seeds.

Visiting Chicago

During our break between graduation and starting the new job we decided to spend a week with family in Chicago.  We enjoyed a lot of relaxation time - moving is pretty stressful.

We did go to the Children's Museum one day.  It was awesome and totally inspired me to be a better mom by providing more educational play opportunities at home.  Lily and Claire really liked it too.  Lily kept asking if we could go back.  We finally settled on playing "kids museum" at home.

Another day we went to the Lincoln Park Zoo.  It was really fun and the fun is even funner because its free.  We packed a picnic lunch and some snacks.  I regret the only pictures I took this whole week were of chocolate pudding faces.  The mess was pretty great.  A chocolate beard really suits Claire, don't you think?
