A Few Funny Things

So a few funny things have happened recently and I wanted to share.

1)  A few days ago, Lily invited me to play with her in her room.  After we got settled I asked her what she wanted to play.  She said, "Do you want to play with matches?"  I paused for a long time while my mind raced - How did she get a hold of matches and does she even know what they are?  She then pulled out her Princess Memory Game.  Oh! matches.  I get it.  We had a great time playing with "matches".

2) I left Claire in her Jumperoo while I helped Lily get set up with a DVD. When I came back, this is what I found.

This reminded me of a time this happened to Lily! So cute!

3)  I made some homemade bread today that we're going to use tomorrow to make the awesomest French Toast ever.  However, I noticed a burning smell while it was baking.  I ran to discover this:

The bread had risen too much and hit the heating coil on the ceiling of the oven.  My oven is really tiny, so I had to take out one of the racks so there would be enough room for the bread.  I think if I ever become a rancher, that's going to be my cattle brand.

Claire and Pears

Claire tried pears for the first time yesterday.  They were a hit!  She literally attacked the spoon.

She doesn't open her mouth very wide when she eats.  She tries to drink the baby food off of the spoon.  Here I am trying to help her open her mouth wider.

Lily has another pretty hairdo today.  This one's for you, Mom.  (And No, it isn't a battle to get her to sit still. She usually plays while I fix her hair).  We'll see if it lasts the day.

A Valentine from Lily

Jeff and Lily made a valentine for me for family night (I had to leave early to go running with a friend).  They also cleaned the kitchen and straightened the house!  The valentine was very sweet.

I did Lily's hair with a Valentine's Day theme.  I also tried out the curling iron for the first time.  Not surprisingly, the curls didn't last.  Lily has hair very similar to mine.  We got a lot of comments about the hairdo which made it extra fun!

My Little Princess

Since I still hear "the castle is too far away" multiple times a day, I picked up a toy castle for Lily at the GOTHE (Gift of the Heart Exchange).  She really likes it!

On another note, I've been having a great time fixing Lily's hair all sorts of cute ways.  I read a blog about it.  Here's the link: http://www.cutegirlshairstyles.com/  Here's Lily's hairdo at the end of the day...It was really cute this morning, I promise!

Sweet Potatoes and Squash

Claire tried sweet potatoes for the first time a couple of days ago.  She actually liked them!  The only bad thing was that then she broke out in hives on her stomach....I guess she won't be having sweet potatoes for a while.  Here she is experiencing her first bite of sweet potatoes.

So, we moved on to squash today. The squash was not a hit at first, but she seemed to be swallowing after a few bites.  Here is the first bite running down her chin.

Body Paint

Lily wanted to finger paint today.  While I wasn't looking finger painting turned into body painting!
